HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR WEAVING

By taking the time to properly care for your tapestry weaving you will preserve its beauty and character for many long years, if not for generations.

A gentle approach to caring and cleaning is important for longevity.

Here are some general care instructions:

DO's

- Do hang with pride and enjoy the layers, textures and colours that tell a story
- Do hang in indirect light, away from direct sunlight and heat
- Do hang in an area with proper ventilation, heating and humidity control
- Use a soft gentle cleaning brush to lightly dust your weaving
- Use a cool/cold air hair dryer on low blow setting to remove excess dust

DON’TS

- Do not immerse in water or wash in a basin or washing machine, nor use a dryer
- Do not shake or wring out
- Do not hang in direct sunlight, or hang over a fireplace or radiator
- Do not store unprotected and folded
- Do not pull at loops or hanging threads

In the event a piece gets soiled or liquid spilled on it, use a dry soft cloth and press lightly to remove unwanted liquid or stains.  Do not use detergents or other cleaning products, assess damage and review best practices for wool, silk, cotton materials.  Do not pull at loops or threads while cleaning.  My weavings are well tied and secured but there will be pulled threads if excess force is used.

My thought when creating each piece is it will be loved and cared for like a family heirloom.

Thank you for purchasing a fine art weaving for your long lasting enjoyment and supporting the craft of handmade.
